In bariatric surgery, the first year is the ‘Honeymoon phase’ because weight loss happens fast and effortlessly.

Your bariatrics team is there for you. Not only in the first year post-surgery but for life long.

  1. Do regular blood check-ups. So the reports can give you a proper idea of how your health is progressing.
  2. Sit with a dietician for follow ups. They take care of the changes in diet supplement or medications you require.
  3. Observe minute complications to consult with the surgeon (like acid reflux, vomiting, headache, constipation etc.)

Mental and Emotional Consistency

You are attached to the food emotionally and losing that comfort after bariatric surgery makes you emotionally unstable.

  2. Look for a therapist specialised in bariatric surgery

  3. Learn coping mechanisms or involve yourself in any of the activities to divert your mind from food like art, self-defense, poetry etc. This helps to divert your mind from food and you avoid emotional eating.
